Skadden Fellow Allison Newcombe (’13) is quoted in a Los Angeles Magazine article about a new approach to eradicating child prostitution — offering compassion to the young victims (“Gone Girls: Human Trafficking on the Home Front,” Oct. 14). Newcombe, a 2013 UCLA School of Law graduate, is developing a program for Alliance for Children’s Rights that will address the issue of commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking of youth within the foster care system. In the article, she discussed a teenager who had first been charged with prostitution at 13 and had now failed to appear for a court appearance. “There’s a green light on her,” Newcombe said. “That means her pimp has put the word out that she’s up for grabs.”
