Sean Riordan Speaks on Immigrants' Rights

Former Skadden Fellow Sean Riordan ('08) was quoted in a New York Times article about Mexican immigrants who will be allowed to return to the U.S. to fight their expulsions under an agreement secured by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), where Sean is a senior staff attorney ("9 Mexicans Can Return to Contest Deportations," Aug. 27). The ACLU had argued in a lawsuit that enforcement agents had failed to advise the nine of their rights and coerced them into accepting a type of removal known as voluntary return. In the agreement, federal officials agreed to ensure that immigrants are better informed of their rights. "This is a substantial reform of how Border Patrol and ICE do business," Sean said.
