Judy Browne-Dianis Discusses Death of Teenager

Former Skadden Fellow Judy Browne-Dianis appeared on PBS "NewsHour" to discuss the trial of Michael Dunn, who fired 10 bullets into an SUV of teenagers listening to loud music; one teen, Jordan Davis, later died ("Mistrial in Murder of Black Florida Teen Revives Debate on Race and Self-Defense," Feb. 18). The jury declared a mistrial on a charge that Dunn murdered Davis. The defendant's fiancée testified that before firing the bullets Dunn said, "I hate that thug music." Judy said, "[This] wasn't just loud music, but loud thug music ... we just had a similar incident with Richard Sherman, the football player, being called a thug, which is now becoming the code word for the N-word."
