Andrew Imparato Comments on Gains in Disabled Workforce

Former Skadden Fellow Andrew Imparato (’91) was quoted in a PBS NewsHour article about a report by Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, saying “we are on the verge of substantial gains” in finding jobs for the disabled, “provided we get serious about welcoming people with disabilities into the workforce” (“A Call to Focus on Finding Jobs for Those With Disabilities,” July 25). Andrew cited two reasons why Harkin is optimistic about the growth of the disabled workforce: (1) a new generation of young people with disabilities who grew up in integrated schools and accessible neighborhoods is entering the labor force, and they expect to be hired at the same rate as nondisabled people and (2) the federal government and private sector have been called on to hire more disabled workers.
