Heather Way Calls for Effective Policy To Address Gentrification

Former Fellow Heather Way (’97), a law professor at the University of Texas, discussed the effect of real estate development in the Austin American-Statesman (“City Must Halt Displacement on the East Riverside Corridor,” Oct. 22). Sharing research from her co-authored report “Uprooted: Residential Displacement in Austin’s Neighborhoods and What Can Be Done About It,” Heather described how “mitigating displacement in the face of larger economic forces is never easy. But . . . the city can have a meaningful impact if it acts proactively, creatively and boldly.”
