Former Fellow Ajmel Quereshi (’08), a lawyer with the NAACP’s Legal Defense and Education Fund (LDF), was quoted in a WAMU article about LDF’s lawsuit seeking to force Maryland’s board of education to address the funding gap in schools (“Civil Rights Groups Find Maryland Education Funding Proposal Inadequate,” Oct. 29). Ajmel said the state education commission’s current proposal, structured to address the resource differential between school districts by 2030, “is just too slow a process for our students who need that funding right now.”
