Nicolle Vasquez Del Favero (’14), Assistant Counsel at Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic, coauthored an article for the Hispanic National Bar Association’s 2024 Noticias examining barriers to employment for military spouses and advocating licensing accommodations for those practicing law (“Getting to Work: Military Spouse Attorneys and Their Exclusion from Federal Law,” Sep. 4-6). “Overall, burdensome provisional licensing rules like Virginia Rule IA:8 do more to restrict growth than provide an equal footing for military spouse attorneys to not only survive but thrive. . . . The inequity in these rules emphasizes the need for military spouse attorney licensure portability to be included in federal law,” Nicolle said.
