Raj Goyle (’01), CEO at Goyle Ventures, authored a guest essay for Newsday supporting New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposal to ban smartphones in schools and endorsing recently passed legislation that aims to safeguard kids from harmful algorithmic data feeds and limit personal data collection from kids (“New York Should Ban Smartphones in Schools,” Jun. 26). “Many social problems are hard to solve. This one doesn’t have to be. Hochul, Adams, Attorney General Leticia James, district attorneys, school leaders and the Health Department are on the same side. Passing the governor’s school smartphone bill would be another step toward turning our children into confident, healthy, engaged, and well-educated citizens.”
