Jessica Shoemaker Suggests New Approach for Reservation Property

Former Fellow Jessica Shoemaker (’05) wrote an article for California Law Review proposing a new alternative to the existing “highly federalized system” for American Indian reservation property (“Transforming Property: Reclaiming Modern Indigenous Land Tenures,” November 2018). Jessica sets forth “a series of alternative steps, driven primarily by respect for tribal governments’ own actions and choices, to reclaim new, modern versions of indigenous land tenures within reservation spaces.”
