Former Fellow Claudia Wilner (‘03) gave a presentation titled “Driving While Poor” at the Oct. 20 TEDx conference in Jacksonville, Florida. Claudia described how, for most people, a traffic ticket is merely an annoyance, but for millions of Americans — disproportionately low-income people of color — a ticket can be a financial calamity that sets off a spiral of bad consequences.
