Former Fellow Dora Galacatos’ (’97) op-ed discussing the detention of children of asylum-seekers separately from their parents was published in The New York Times (“The Cruel Ploy of Taking Immigrant Kids From Their Parents,” March 2). Dora noted that the “increasing informal use of family separation has not proved to be a deterrent” and has been denounced by the American Medical Association as causing “unnecessary distress, depression and anxiety.”
