Aaron Fischer and Autumn Elliott Advance Rights of Disabled

Former Fellows Aaron Fischer (’06) and Autumn Elliott (’05) of Disability Rights California serve as co-counsel with a team from Skadden’s Los Angeles office on a case challenging West Los Angeles College’s decision to cancel shuttle service, impacting those with physical disabilities. Aaron also helped file a separate class action lawsuit challenging conditions in the Santa Barbara County Jail. In addition, Aaron co-authored an op-ed published in The Sacramento Bee (“Disabled Lives Matter, Too,” Feb. 5). “People with disabilities encounter law enforcement at a disproportionately high rate,” the article said. “These disparities are even more glaring when disability, race and gender are considered together.”
