Catherine Ruckelshaus Comments on New Tax Laws

Former Fellow Catherine Ruckelshaus (’89) was quoted in a New York Times article on the new tax provision that allows sole proprietors to deduct 20 percent of their revenue from their taxable income (“Tax Law Offers a Carrot to Gig Workers. But It May Have Costs,” Dec. 31). A resulting shift in the workforce to a focus on independent contractors could mean “losing the safety nets for those workers,” said Catherine.
