Former Skadden Fellows Alvaro Huerta ('11), Jennifer Rosenbaum ('03) and Karen Tumlin ('08) helped secure summary judgment and a permanent injunction forever precluding the enforcement as to U.S. citizens of a Louisiana law requiring foreign-born people to present certified birth certificates to obtain marriage licenses. On Aug. 8, a federal district court ruled that the law is unconstitutional. The Fellows worked alongside a team from our Los Angeles, Boston and Washington, D.C. offices.
