Harvard Law's Project on Predatory Student Lending, led by former Skadden fellow Toby Merrill ('12), has handled significant cases in the year since its expansion. For example, it achieved a federal court victory ordering the Education Department to adjudicate within 90 days the borrower defenses of a client who has asserted for years that her student debt was unenforceable because of a for-profit college's fraud. The victory was featured in The New York Times ("U.S. Halts New Rules Aimed at Abuses by For-Profit Colleges, "June 14).
