New York Immigrant Affairs Commissioner and former Fellow Nisha Agarwal ('06) was quoted in a New York Times article about a report on law enforcement departments that fail to turn over undocumented immigrant criminals ("Law Enforcement Agencies Bristle at U.S. Report on Immigration Detention," March 20). The report ignores that "federal courts have repeatedly held that immigration detainers ... cannot be made mandatory under the Constitution," she said.
