Former Skadden fellow Alan Jenkins ('90), executive director of the Opportunity Agenda, appeared on MSNBC's "The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell" (June 23) to discuss calls by South Carolina state Sen. Paul Thurmond to remove the Confederate flag from outside the state house. "The flag can only be defended when people of good will are not paying attention. And now they're paying attention," Alan said. "It is remarkable to talk about the sins of the past, to talk about the fact that the flag has always been about hate and the inferiority of black folks. It's really a remarkable development."
