Ann Cammett Comments on Jailing Parents Who Skip Child Support

A letter to the editor written by former Skadden Fellow Ann Cammett ('00) about the use of jail to pressure parents to pay child support was published by The New York Times ("When 'Deadbeat Dads' Are Jailed," April 28). "Incarcerating those who owe child support is almost never a rational response for failure to pay," the letter said. "If they can't pay, jail is ineffective for generating child support and serves as a mechanism to punish parents for being poor."
