An op-ed authored by former Skadden Fellow Leigh Goodmark (’95) about options beyond criminal prosecution that should be made available to victims of domestic violence was published by The New York Times (“Healthy Alternatives to Prosecution Can Help Victims,” Sept. 11). “Victims of violence have complicated and compelling reasons for maintaining their relationships with their partners — reasons that include safety, children, religion, economics, immigration status, community support and love,” the article said. “Restorative justice practices that are attentive to the dynamics of domestic violence and needs of its victims can empower those victims uninterested in separation from or criminal punishment of their partners.”
