Karen Tumlin Fights for Immigrants Denied Health Care Coverage

Former Skadden Fellow Karen Tumlin (’08) of the National Immigration Law Center was quoted by a number of media outlets concerning administrative complaints filed by her organization against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which notified 115,000 people that they will lose health care coverage because their immigration status or citizenship cannot be verified. Karen told The Wall Street Journal, “Our concern is that these individuals never knew they had a problem in the first place, let alone one they had to solve or be at risk of losing their health coverage. That’s really the duty of the government, to inform people of what’s at stake.” (“Immigrant Groups Try to Block Termination of Health Plans,” Sept. 30).
