Former Skadden Fellow Katie Murphy ('00) was quoted in a Los Angeles Times article about efforts by the Health Consumer Alliance to force the state to address a huge backlog in applications for Medi-Cal ("Obamacare: Legal Aid Groups Demand Answers on Medi-Cal Backlog," July 2). Katie is managing attorney at Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County, which is part of the alliance. She said that "ongoing bureaucratic delays had prevented many people from seeking needed medical care," according to the publication. "It's making people think health reform was an empty promise," Katie said.
