Tom Fritzsche Testifies on Meatpacking/Poultry Worker Abuse

Southern Poverty Law Center staff attorney Tom Fritzsche, a former Skadden Fellow ('09), testified on March 25 before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, calling for the government to enact work-speed protections for meat and poultry workers and to abandon a proposal by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to increase production-line speeds. "The meat and poultry processing industries violate the fundamental human rights of their workers, who come from all over the hemisphere, by systematically exploiting the lack of work-speed safety regulations in the United States," Tom testified.
