Paige Fern Advocates for California Foster Students

Skadden Fellow Paige Fern was quoted in an EdSource article about a new California law that will give additional funds to schools based on number of enrolled foster students ("Districts Will Get Extra Funding for Foster Students, but State Has to Find Them First," March 19). Due to their mobility, identifying these students has been problematic. According to Paige, an attorney from Alliance for Children's Rights, staying in the same school is a "huge problem" for foster students statewide, partly because they aren't aware that they have the right to continue in the same school when they go in and out of foster care or move from home to home.
