Alan Jenkins and Maya Wiley Discuss Unequal Treatment of Minorities by Law Enforcement Officials

Former Skadden Fellows Alan Jenkins (’90) and Maya Wiley (’92) discussed the unequal treatment of minorities in the criminal justice system on Melissa Harris-Perry’s MSNBC program (Nov. 23). Alan said unlawful arrests and other instances of mistreatment of minorities by law enforcement undermine the justice system’s goals of public safety and crime prevention. Maya argued for instituting police practices that keep people safe and prevent unlawful behavior by police officers. Maya also discussed President Obama’s speech at Nelson Mandela’s memorial on MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes” (Dec. 10).
