Several newspapers and television stations, including the Mississippi Business Journal, covered a press conference at which Skadden Fellow Marni von Wilpert (’11) announced the Mississippi Center for Justice’s partnership with the University of Mississippi Medical Center (“UMMC, Center for Justice Form Partnership to Benefit Those With HIV/AIDS,” May 9). As part of the collaboration — the first-ever medical-legal partnership in Mississippi — the center will provide free civil legal services to people living with HIV/AIDS. “We are thrilled to announce this effort ... to protect important legal rights,” Marni said. “In the face of employment and housing discrimination, HIV/AIDS patients often lack access to legal resources. This program will help ensure they are treated fairly so they can lead productive, fulfilling lives.”
