Former Skadden Fellow Rebecca Vallas (’09) appeared on MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes” to refute perceptions that Social Security disability programs have expanded under President Obama, and, as NPR’s “Planet Money” put it, “become a de facto welfare program for people without a lot of education or job skills.” Rebecca argued that the “disability standard in the United States is the strictest in the world. ... Most people who apply are denied. The concept that there’s some sort of catchall is just misplaced and it’s not supported by facts.”
