Nina Perales Fights Arizona Voting Law Before Supreme Court

As a guest on NPR’s “Morning Edition,” former Skadden Fellow Nina Perales (’90) spoke about a case before the U.S. Supreme Court, in which she serves as lead counsel, challenging an Arizona law requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote in national elections (March 18). The case challenges the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit’s decision that the Arizona law conflicts with the National Voter Registration Act. “This is federal regulation of federal elections, and so the Arizona law has to yield,” Nina said.
