Judy Browne-Dianis Discusses Voting Rights

Former Skadden Fellow Judy Browne-Dianis (’92) of the Advancement Project appeared on MSNBC’s “Hardball With Chris Matthews” on Feb. 18 to discuss voting rights. In particular, Judy spoke about Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, which seeks to protect minority voters by requiring certain state and local governments to obtain federal approval for voting changes. Some argue that the section has outlived its purpose. However, Judy said, “Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act is still needed” in the face of a recent push across the U.S. for voter I.D. laws.
