Former Skadden Fellows Cathy Ruckelshaus (’89) and Paul Sonn (’94), both of the National Employment Law Project, spoke to the media recently about the federal minimum wage. As a guest on NPR’s “All Things Considered,” Cathy called the exclusion of home care workers from basic federal minimum wage and overtime protections an “accident of history.” Paul, in an appearance on “CBS Evening News,” said that raising the federal minimum wage would result in a very substantial boost in consumer spending. “We need an economy where consumers can afford to spend,” Paul said.
