Diane Thompson Comments on Wrongful Foreclosures Settlement

Former Skadden Fellow Diane Thompson (’94) of the National Consumer Law Center appeared in a PBS Newshour segment about a settlement in which 10 major U.S. banks agreed to pay $8.5 billion for wrongful foreclosures on homeowners (“Major Banks to Pay $8.5 Billion in Settlement Over Housing Foreclosure Abuses,” Jan. 7). When asked what types of abuses gave rise to the settlement, Diane said, “What we’re talking about are wrongful foreclosures. ... The banking agencies found that there were repeated and pervasive violations of the law.”
