On Nov. 28, the Maine Human Rights Commission announced former Skadden Fellow Rebekah Smith (‘00) will be on its first roster of mediators for its new Third-Party Neutral Mediation Program. The commission, the state agency charged with enforcing Maine’s anti-discrimination laws, hopes the mediation program will allow it to resolve cases at an early stage in its investigation process and in a way that allows the voices of the parties to be heard without investing substantial time and money in litigation. Rebekah helped draft model rules and policies for the program.
