Former Skadden Fellow Muneer Ahmad (’97) was quoted in a Toronto Star article about the repatriation of Toronto-born Guantanamo prisoner Omar Khadr to Canada (“Omar Khadr Repatriated to Canada,” Sept. 29). Ahmad, who is now a professor at Yale Law School, served as Khadr’s first U.S. civilian lawyer. Khadr was 15 when he was captured and subsequently detained and prosecuted for purported war crimes. “Omar is no longer the boy I met in 2004, but I am hopeful that as a young man finally back home in Canada, he will be allowed to live the normal life I know he craves,” Muneer said. “It’s time for the fearmongering to stop, and to let Omar be.”
